Protest demanding special 20% reservation for Vanniyars as a Pongal gift in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: Protest demanding special 20% reservation for Vanniyars as a Pongal gift in Coimbatore. Pattali Makkal Katchi founder Dr. Ramadoss announced a series of protests, demanding a separate 20 percent reservation for the Vanniyar.

On the basis of this, the first phase of rail strike was held in Chennai, the protests in front of the Central Government Office, the second phase was the struggle to petition the Village Officer, the third phase was the struggle to petition the Municipal Offices, and the fourth stage was the petition to the Panchayat Regional Development Office and the Collector's Office.

Following this, in the 5th phase, a mass protest was held in Tamil Nadu todayat the corporation and municipal offices to file petitions. As a part of this a mass demonstration was held in front of the Coimbatore Corporation office on behalf of the Coimbatore PMK District and a petition was submitted to the Corporation Commissioner.



Earlier, PMK and members of the Vanniyar Sangam carried party flags and Vanniyar Sangam flags during a mass protest near the Coimbatore Corporation office, led by Deputy State General Secretary Kovai Raj and State Youth Wing Deputy Secretary Ashok Srinidhi.



They chanted slogans demanding a 20% special reservation for the Vanniyar in education and employment. Following this, the people of PMK went to the corporation office in a procession and submitted a petition to the assistant corporation commissioner Mohana Sundari demanding a special reservation of 20% for the Vanniyar

Ashok Srinithi, Deputy Secretary, PMK Youth Wing, said that the Tamil Nadu government should provide a special 20% reservation for the Vanniyar as a Pongal gift, adding that if the Tamil Nadu government does not listen after all these stages of the struggle, the struggle will be intensified. More than 300 party executives attended the protest.
