Police officials arrest over 600 DMK members who protested against Coimbatore corporation

DMK party members organised a demonstration todayagainst the Coimbatore Corporation.


Coimbatore: DMK party members under MLA Karthik participated in a demonstration against the corruption done by Corporation officials in the Smart City Project.



Police officials arrested over 600 DMK party members who took part in the demonstration infront of the South Thasildar Office.



The members chanted slogans against the corporation officials and carried placards which had quotes opposing the AIADMK government.

Under the Smart City Project lakes in Coimbatore like Ukkadam Periyakulam lake, Valangulam lake and others are being cleaned and the surrounding areas around the lakes are being developed.

DMK party members complained about the corruption that is going on under the name of Smart City Project. This demonstration took place at the South Thasildar Office after the permission for demonstration was denied by police officials.

DMK MLA Karthik met with the press and said that the Smart City Project is under process with a budget of 1000 crores, but the corrupt corporation officals are not using quality materials in the development projects. He further said that DMK party strongly condemns the corruption levels in the city.

MLA Karthik also said that tenders regarding the Smart City Project are being given only to the relatives of minister SP Velumani. He also said that an investigation regarding this corruption will be done as soon as DMK party comes to power.

DMK leader Pongalur Palanisamy and 600 other district and zonal organisers likeP Nachimuthu, Mettal M Mani, Udaiyakumar, Lawyer Arulmozhi, Lawyer GD Rajendran, Selvaraj, Kottai Abbas, R Kannan, P Anandan, CV Deepa, K Manohar, RM Sedhuraman, V Balasubramaniam participated in this massive demonstration protest.



Due to the demonstration and arrest there was panic in the area.
