Brick manufacturers issue life threats to the family of a social activist - Family members petition district collector

Brick manufacturers then filed a case against Ganesh, Rajendran and 7 others.


Coimbatore: Social activists Rajendran and Ganesan have filed a case at the Madras High Court against the brick manufacturers for plundering mineral resources in the Chinna Thadagam area.

In a recent incident which happened yesterday, red sand was illegally stolen by brick manufacturers from a land belonging to a woman named Maheshwari. When the Ganesh along with Maheshwari tried to stop the truck which was stealing red sand the brick manufacturers attacked them and fled the scene with the stolen sand.

Brick manufacturers then filed a case against Ganesh, Rajendran and 7 others.



Family members of the social activists Ganesh and Rajendran petitioned at the district collectorate seeking immediate action against the brick manufacturers who issued life threats.

In their petition they said that 50 plus members from the brick manufacturers side broke the windows of their house along with issuing death threats to Ganesh's family members and pressured them to take back the case filed against them at the Madras High Court.

Social activist Rajendran complained that the police officers who came along with the brick manufacturers broke the main door of his house.

Social activists Ganesh and Rajendran said that multiple complaints are made at the police stations along with other districts departments regarding the continuous plundering of mineral resources in the area but no actions have been taken by the officials yet.

Finally the family members of social activists said that they are scared to lead a normal life again and that their lives are at danger with continuous threats by the brick manufacturers.

Activist Ganesh's wife who is pregnant requested the district collector to ensure their safety from brick manufacturers who are constantly giving them threats.
