Coimbatore: Coimbatore Government Hospital Dean Kalidas explained the various symptoms for Dengue to create awareness among public. With unpredictable climatic conditions and increased cold both during the day and at the night, Dengue is on the rise in Coimbatore.

The government has asked the public to not get panicked about Dengue fever but to follow necessary precautions.

Coimbatore Government Hospital Dean Kalidas asked the public to practise drinking only warm water. He said dengue spreads via ADS mosquitoes and that the spread has been comparitively low this year.

Dean Kalidas also said that the Dengue mosquito breeds on rainwater / freshwater and that people must not allow water stagnation at their house. Tyres, tubes, grinding stones, broken pots and plastic products must kept clean and covered or disposed when you don’t need.

The public should clean water tanks regularly and that they should visit a hospital or a primary health centre if they feel symptoms like severe headache, fever, eye pain, joint pain, muscle pain, and not able taste food.

Most importantly children's body fluids must be maintained at a balance and be administered Nilavembu Kasaiyam often.
