Twist in the Rs 27 lakh car heist: Over 1 crore seized from secret compartments in the car

Over 1 crore seized from a car: Police investigates if it was hawala or money used for election campaign

Coimbatore: In a major twist to the robbery case of 27 lakhs, over 1 crore has been seized from the stolen car that was hidden in several secret compartments.

Police are investigating if it was hawala or money used for the election campaign. Abdul Salam (age 50) is a real estate tycoon from Malappuram, Kerala. He drove his car from Bangalore to Kerala via Coimbatore on the 25th. The driver of the car was Samsuddin (42). When their car came near Coimbatore Navakkarai, it was reported that the mysterious gang who came in 2 cars attacked Abdul Salam with a knife and robbed him of the car and Rs 27 lakh.

The KG Chavady police registered a case and 3 special forces were formed and the police conducted a serious investigation. Abdul Salam's car, which was abducted by robbers, was recovered near Madhampatty on Coimbatore Siruvani Road and was brought to the KG Chavady police station.

The cell phones of Abdul Salam and Samsuddin were also found near Perur Pachapalayam. Abdul Kalam's car, which was later recovered, was searched thoroughly by the police. When the car doors were broken open, 4 new secret compartments were showed up at the bottom. There were bundles of money amounting to one crore rupees. The police confiscated them immediately. It was learned that the money was smuggled in the car from Bangalore. Following this, the police have intensified their investigation into Abdul Salam and Samsuddin who said he was robbed of Rs 27 lakh by a gang of robbers.

During the investigation it was revealed that the robber abandoned the car without knowing that there was money in the car. Meanwhile, when the police examined Abdul Salam's cell phone, it was revealed that Mohammad Ali, a native of Kerala, had spoken to him frequently. So he was also questioned by the police. Police have also launched an investigation into whether the money was hawala money or money distributed as unaccounted money for election expenses.

There have already been several incidents of hawala money laundering on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. Tamil Nadu police are camping in Kerala and investigating whether the gang is involved in the case. Enforcement officials have also decided to investigate whether the hawala money was smuggled. The sudden twist in a Rs 27 lakh robbery case has caused a stir in the investigation circles.
