Coimbatore: Bank employee arrested for throwing stones at car. Gnanavelu (35), a Periyar supporter from Lawley Road, Coimbatore, had a Periyar picture and comments on his car. A stone fell on the windshield of his car when he came close to Coimbatore in his car last evening. When Gnanavelu looked back in shock, it was revealed that 2 people who came on a motorcycle had thrown stones. Gnanavelu chased them in a car and caught them near Agricultural University.

Then Gnanavelu's friend Venkatesh also came there and tried to catch them. They then left the motorcycle there and fled. Following this complaint, the RS Puram police registered a case under the Damage to Public Property Act and arrested Rajesh (25), an employee of a private bank in Vadavalli and the police are on the lookout for his friend Saravanan.
