Govindaraj (37) from Karamadai and Marimuthu (50) from Kannarpalayam were the school van driver and cleaner of Vidhya Vikaas school near Karamadai, Coimbatore.
Both Govindaraj and Marimuthu last year sexually assaulted a 4 year old girl and dropped her at home as they usually do. The 4 year old girl who's health began to decline was taken to a hospital. The doctor's who checked the little girl discovered that the child had been sexually assaulted. Later the parents of the 4 year old complained at the Thudiyalur All women's police station regarding this.
After rigourous police investigation it was revealed that van driver Govindaraj and his helper Marimuthu sexually assaulted the girl and were arrested under the POCSO act. This case was proceeding for a year at the POCSO special court in Coimbatore. Judge Radhika who headed the proceedings of the case sentenced life imprisonment for both Govindaraj and Marimuthu and also issued a fine of rupees 50,000 each.
This court sentence has finally brought relief to the parents who had only disbelief and rage after this saga.
