Coimbatore Corporation officials begin survey of roadside vendors! New identification cards to be issued soon!

Coimbatore corporation officials are now involved in issuing identification cards to roadside vendors.

Coimbatore:

Coimbatore Corporation has over 6,000 registered street vendors and over 12,000 unregistered vendors. The corporation officials earlier issued identification cards to the registered street vendors which have expired now. So the corporation officials are now tasked with the duty of conducting a survey before providing the street vendors with the identification cards.

As the survey is under process, the roadside vendors have requested the corporation officials to be precautious and careful during the survey as some tend to cheat.

When asked about this issue, Mani, President of the Coimbatore district roadside vendors association said that "The Corporation should immediately issue new identification cards to the existing members. Corporation officials should also be careful as some who don't have a roadside shop claim that they own roadside shops to get identification cards. Since that is happening I request the Corporation Officials to give identification cards only to genuine roadside vendors."

Mani, president of Coimbatore Roadside Vendors Association also said that the corporation should grant the Corona Special Loan to all the registered roadside vendors as the vendors are still recovering from the financial crisis post Covid-19 lockdown.
