Emu farm scam: 3 more business owners sentenced to 10 years in prison!

Three including a lady police were sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Tanfit Court in Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: Karthi Shankar (45), his wife Gayathri (39) who is a cop at the arms police division in Erode were residing at Jeeva Nagar, Gobichettipalayam in Erode district.

In the year 2010 the couple started an "Emu farm" in the name of KG Bright Livestock with a manger Sabin Kanna (25). This team of 3 managed to scam the investors by telling them that with an investment of 2 lakhs 20 emu eggs will be given and 7,000 INR will be for the maintenance of the birds. The firm also promised innovative scaming schemes like assuring the investors that they will be given a bonus of 20,000 and many more.

Investors in and around Erode, believed in the scheme and joined the farm by investing money.

Later when they were not getting any of their investment back, the investors complained at the Erode crime branch in the year 2012.

In the police investigation it was revealed that the Emu firm had cheated 73 investors a total amount of 3.42crores. The police arrested the 3 who then posted bail. The woman police Gayathri was suspended for her involvement.

The trial happened at the Coimbatore Tanfit Court and todayat the final judgement sentenced Karthick Shankar, Gayathri and Sabin Kanna for 10 years in prison and a fine of 2 crores, 15 lakhs and 60 thousand rupees.
