Coimbatore: Police officials arrest 2 men for bringing 300 kg of banned tobacco inside Coimbatore. The seized tobacco products is said to have a worth of 3lakh.
With one escaped the Coimbatore police arrested two men for carrying around 300 kg of tobacco products in a Maruti car which is banned in Tamilnadu.
The police department under Sub-inspector Arvind Raj who were conducting random checks near the service road in Brindavan Nagar, Karumathampati.
A Maruti Swift car which speeded that way got the attention of the police who then stopped the car for checking. The police saw 3 men inside the car when one suddenly gave a run. The police arrested the other two men and brought them for further investigation.
It was later found thatJitender Kumar (24) from Rajasthan who now resides in Somnur and Dharvesh (35) from Mettupalayam tower service road the one who escaped was Mothilal.
It was later found out that 300 kg of banned tobacco products such as Coo lip, Hans and Ganesh panparak were packed in 10 bags inside the car.
The estimated cost fir the banned products is said to be around 3 lakhs and after seizing the banned products and the car the police continued the investigation on the man who escaped.
The police also found that these banned products are being taken to shops from a godown were it's stored.
