Coimbatore: Man arrested in Coimbatore for assaulting lover who refused for marriage.
A 28-year-old girl from Konavaikkalpalayam near Podanur is married and has a child. The woman was suffering from a lung illness. She has been going to a private hospital in Vellore for treatment. There she got acquainted with Prabhakaran (33), a resident of the Vellore leather warehouse. When Prabhakaran asked her to get married to him she refused and left home.
Yesterday she was standing with her husband at the Prakasam bus stop on Oppanakara Street. Prabhakaran, who was there at the time, again pestered the woman to marry him. Seeing this, the woman's husband reprimanded Prabhakaran which led to a dispute between them.
Enraged by this, Prabhakaran attacked the woman and her husband in the middle of the road and threatened to kill them and fled. The girl lodged a complaint with the Big Bazaar police. Police arrested Prabhakaran under the Prevention of Violence Against Women Act, produced him in court and remanded him in custody.
