Members of the Kongu Makkal Munnani party arrested for protesting in front of Tirupur railway station!

The Kongu Makkal Munnani party members were arrested todayduring a protest against the government's new rule to bring multiple caste sub groups under one name.


Coimbatore: The Kongu Makkal Munnani party members and other officials protested in front of the Tirupur Railway Station today against the government's new policy in the common categorisation of castes.



The TamilNadu government recently agreed to include 7 castes from scheduled category namely pallar, kudumbar, pannadi, kaladi, devanthar kular, vathiyar and kadaiyar under the Vellalar community.

The members of the Kongu Makkal Munnani party are now protesting against the government's decision to use Vellalar as the community namefor the 7 scheduled castes mentioned earlier.

The police arrested almost 30 members of the Kongu Makkal Munnani party who were involved in a protest blocking the roads and for protesting in front of the railway station.
