The simplicity of SSS Trustee during his demise - a heart melting story

Shanthi Social Service Trustee Subramaniam (78) who lived as an example has now taught us on how to be humble even during death.



Coimbatore: Coimbatore-based Shanthi Social Service Organization's trustee Subramaniam (78) who was ill during the last few days passed away today morning at 5.30 am.

A man who firmly believed against advertising the service done to the public, lived by that even during his demise.

Subramaniam who was based out of Coimbatore founded Shanthi Gears, a gear manufacturing company in the year 1972. Shanthi Gears which was initially started by Subramaniam with just 1 lathe machine, later grew as a giant company which manufactured machine spare parts for many Indian and foreign companies.

Founder Subramaniam who sold his Shanthi Gears company recently, believed in serving the public as the main purpose of his life.

Mr. Subramaniam started the Shanthi Social Service Organization in 1996 and then became the trustee of the organisation which focused on serving the public.

Simplicity even during Demise!

SSS Trustee Subramaniam, who spoke to his daughter yesterday evening said that after his death, he should be cremated in a very simple way and that the news of his demise should not reach his employees. He also said that he wanted no one to participate in last rights.

Heart melting incident at the cremation!

According to his wishes, Shanthi Social Service Trustee Subramaniam body was planned to be cremated at the free electric cremation ground offered by the Shanthi Social Service Organization and according to his wishes his last rites were performed in the presence of immediate family members. And his wish was also honoured by his family by not telling anyone about his demise.

The workers who cremated his body at the Shanthi Social Service electric cremation ground didn't know that they cremated their boss’s body until after the cremation was done.

Mr. Subramaniam who believed that service to the public should not be advertised not only lived by it but also followed the same after his death.

Although nobody has seen even a picture of him, he will always be remembered by the people of Coimbatore for his selfless service to humanity.
