COVID-19: Senior Citizens and pregnant women in Coimbatore should be safe and cautious - Corporation Commissioner

Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner said that senior citizens (over 60 years of age) and pregnant women in Coimbatore should be safe and cautious.


Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner said that senior citizens (over 60 years of age) and pregnant women in Coimbatore should be safe and cautious. COVID-19 in the city is currently under control due to the intensive coronavirus prevention measures of the Coimbatore Corporation and the cooperation of the people of the city.

Senior Citizens, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases including diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer are asked to be very careful as they are at high risk of contracting the disease.

They are also advised to go to the nearest primary health center if they have symptoms like cold, cough and fever and get tested immediately without delay. COVID-19 is more likely to spread in places of worship, shopping malls, playgrounds, parks, bus stations, train stations, markets and restaurants within the Coimbatore Corporation. Hence the public going to the above places and the employees working there and all the officers are instructed to wear a mask and follow social distancing

Also the Corporation Commissioner advised to avoid overcrowding at weddings and special occasions and to observe social distancing. He said it is now mandatory for the public to wear a face mask as a part of coronavirus prevention measures. Corporation Commissioner and Special officer P. Kumaravel Pandian asked the public to wear a face mask wherever they go, wash their hands frequently with soap and not to spit on the roads. He asked the public to take the above preventive measures and cooperate with the corporation to completely prevent coronavirus infection.
