Coimbatore: The forest department officials and food safety department had conducted an earlier check on vehicles yesterday near Anaikatti checkpoint.
During their patrol, a mini tempo arrived and when the officials asked questions related to their travel they did not answer properly.
This created a doubt in officials who upon further checking the mini door, found lots of rice bags.
The vehicle had 500kg of ration rice from Tamil Nadu which was smuggled out to Kerala.
On further investigation it was revealed that Anandkumar (29) from Palakkad, Prakash (26) and Ramesh (26) from Annur have been smuggling rice to Kerala.
The officials have seized the products and the vehicle and have taken the smugglers for further investigation.
