Coimbatore: With the central government's recent decision to telecast certain news shows in Sanskrit, protestors belonging to the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam protested before the regional head office in Coimbatore today.

The Podhigai Regional Officers were instructed by the central government officials to telecast news clippings in Sanskrit on a daily basis in places like Tamilnadu and various other states.

Protesting against the central government who is now imposing the Sanskrit language via television news, Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam siege protested the Podhigai Regional Television office located on Balasundram street in Coimbatore.

K. Ramakrishnan, Leader of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam while meeting the media said that " The central government has ordered news scripts to be read in Sanskrit from the 1st of this month. Out of all North Indian languages, Sanskrit is not a non-conversational language but also a language which is dead."

He also said that out of the entire Indian population barely 15 thousand people still use Sanskrit and the BJP government is now ready to spend INR 1000 crores on it. The government has only allocated a budget of 10 crore for the development of regional languages which are already on the verge of dying, whereas Sankrit language gets allocated a bigger budget is injustice.

K. Ramakrishnan, Leader of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam also said that the central government plans on bringing back the Aryan cultural domination in India. He also said that the central government by forcing Sanskirt on newsl violates state laws.

Over 30 protestors who participated in the siege before the Podhigai Regional Television Office were arrested by police.
