District Superintendent of Police assures action to prevent drugs brought into Nilgiris from Karnataka and Coimbatore


The Nilgiris: District Superintendent of Police Sasi Mohan told reporters that appropriate action would be taken after talking to the concerned police about drugs including ganja brought into Nilgiris from the state of Karnataka and Coimbatore.

District Superintendent of Police inaugurated an accomodation worth Rs 4 crore 56 lakh to house police and rescue teams during the disaster in the Nilgiris district.

Year after year several areas in Nilgiris are affected after heavy rains. A large number of police and rescue workers from the plains come to the Nilgiris district and stay for several days to rescue the public from the affected areas.



The newly built hostel in Coonoor has all the facilities including beds for about 200 people and cooking equipment. Similarly, a new police station was built in Aruvankadu. The two building built at an estimated cost of Rs 4 crore 56 lakh were inaugurated and inspected by District Superintendent of Police Sasimohan

He said the police were ready to split into 13 teams and engage in rescue operations as heavy rains were likely till the end of December. The event was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Shangu, Coonoor Deputy Superintendent of Police Suresh, Police Inspectors Jayamurugan and Philip, Assistant Inspectors Nazir and Karthik and many others.
