Coimbatore: Police have registered a case under Section 307 and are looking for two men who allegedly stabbed a man for refusing to give them money to buy liquor.

On the night of November 26 Marimuthu (35) a painter who hails from Jeevapathai street, Selvapuram here, was drinking alcohol at a TASMAC shop located between Perur and Vedapatti.

While Marimuthu was on his way home, two men allegedly have approached him and demanded money for buying alcohol. As Marimuthu denied to give them money, one of them had reportedly stabbed him with a knife at multiple places in his body and fled away. The incident took place near Aatru Vinayagar Temple close to Perur temple.

Hearing Marimuthu's scream, the passersby rushed to the spot and saw him fighting for his life surrounded in a pool of blood.They then rescued him and sent to Coimbatore Government Hospital.

Based on the complaint by Marimuthu's wife Lakshmi (30), the Perur police have registered a case under Section 307 and are looking for 2 persons, including Rajesh (25), who stabbed Marimuthu with a knife. The incident caused a stir in the area.
