Coimbatore: A Bharat Munnani functionary was arrested after he allegedly sent whatsapp messages threatening to break Periyar statue.
According to Police, Prabhu (40), a resident of Kallapalayam East Street area, received a message on his WhatsApp. The message read that a Periyar statue is about to be damaged. When Prahu inquired to the sender the whereabouts of him, he came to know that the sender was Manoharan, District Coordinator of Bharat Munnani.
Following this, Prabhu lodged a complaint with the Chettipalayam police.The police inquired and filed a case on Manoharan under sections 294b, 323, 506 (1). He was later arrested and remanded.
