Coimbatore: Police have arrested and jailed 4 people, including an Andhra woman who were involved in a series of robberies in the Karumathampatti area of Coimbatore. Yuvraj is a resident of Chinnamoppiripalayam. This area comes under the control of Karumathampatti police station, Coimbatore district.He went with his family to his cousin's function on 18/10/2020 at Othakalmandapam, Coimbatore. When he returned home later, unidentified individuals had broken into his home and stole 10 sovereign jewelry from the wardrobe.
In another incident when a person named Nagamani was traveling on a two-wheeler with his co-worker Ramu on 30/10/2020near Karumathampatti Nanjappa Polytechnic some unidentified persons robbed a bag containing 6 sovereign of gold jewelry and cash worth Rs. 20,000 from the tank cover of a two wheeler and also stole a cell phone. A case has been registered at the Karumathampatti police station in this regard. On the orders of the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Arularasu, a team led by Assistant Inspector Aravindrajan of the Karumathampatti Police Station conducted an intensive investigation to nab the culprits.
Seenu (20), Subbarao (20), Angamma Rao (32) and Angamma (28) from Andhra Pradesh were interrogated by the police during a vehicle inspection near KNS Bakery, Karumathampatti. During interrogation they admitted that they were involved in the above robbery. Police arrested them and confiscated 16 sovereign gold jewelry, cash worth Rs. 20,000 and a cellphone. A case was registered under section 379 and 4 persons were remanded in custody. Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Arularasu lauded the police who acted effectively and caught the robbers.
