Coimbatore: Inspite of Cyclone Nivar threat, the flight services between Coimbatore and Chennai continue without interruption. With regard to the Nivar cyclone threat, many airlines have cancelled their services to Chennai and Trichy airports.
Coimbatore: Inspite of Cyclone Nivar threat, the flight services between Coimbatore and Chennai continue without interruption. With regard to the Nivar cyclone threat, many airlines have cancelled their services to Chennai and Trichy airports.
While that is the case for nearly 24 flights landing in Chennai, the flight movements between Coimbatore and Chennai continue as normal till 12:30 pm today. Aviation sources said, "Each day on an average minimum four flight movements would be witnessed between Coimbatore and Chennai. In spite of the cyclone threat so far the flight movements to Chennai have not been affected. Indigo operates three flights to Chennai which will leave Coimbatore at 6:15 am, 4:15 pmand 6:15to Chennai. Todaythe morning flight departed as usual. Evening flight services are also on scheduled till now."
Airport sources also said, "There is no threat to Coimbatore due to the cyclone. But still there are chances for flights to be diverted to Coimbatore. As usual the ATC officials are on high alert and would take the needy actions when needed. Till now the flight services to Chennai have not been affected, but there are chances for cancellations during evening depending upon the impact caused by the cyclone."
