₹5 lakh insurance provided to the family of Anti-poaching officer who died of snake bite


Coimbatore: ₹5 lakh insurance was provided by the forest department to the family of Anti-poaching officer who died of snake bite.

Chandran was working as an Anti-poaching officer in Anamalai Tiger Reserve near Pollachi. He belonged to the Malaimalasar community and while on duty in Azhiyar area in 2016 he died after a snake bit him. The family were struggling as usually relief amount is provided to officers who died while on duty by attack of wild animals like tiger, leopards, elephants and not for snake bites.

Though Chandran was provided insurance by the forest department for some reason or the other his family was denied of the releif amount for four years. Chandran's wife Kalairasi had petitioned to the Deputy Field Director Arokiyaraj Xavier for the insurance amount to be released.

With the efforts of teh Forest Department, the insurance aount of ₹5 lakhs was provided to teh family today. Also Anamalai Tiger reserve Fied Director Anwardeen had ordered to provide temporary employment for one of the family members in the forest department
