Coimbatore: The main tourist attraction of Valparai is the Koolangal Aaru (Pebble River). More than a hundred people come here every day to enjoy and bathe.

The left bank of the river is shallow and has swirling water. Due to this, bathing is banned in the area, however, many people bathe here in violation of the ban.

Harish, a third year college student studying Viscom at MGR University, Chennai, from Tirupur Chamundipuram, visited Valparai with his friends last week in the Koolangal Aaru area. At that time, Harish, who was bathing in the river, drowned and died tragically.

So far, about 20 people have died in this region.

To put an end to this, Valparai Municipal Commissioner K. Pavunraj visited and inspected the dangerous part of the river.

In the area, he saw the pit and ordered to cover it with giant rocks from the area.

Accordingly, by means of the JCP machine in that area, the giant rocks are being put into the water and the pits are being filled.

People are relieved that the swirling section of the Koolangal Aaru, which claimed many lives, is now closed.
