Coimbatore: TPDK General Secretary said Vel Yathrai should not be allowed in Coimbatore city. State President of the Tamil Nadu BJP Murugan is set to go on Vel Yathrai on behalf of the party. Various political parties have been protesting against it. The court also banned the Vel Yathrai after the Tamil Nadu government refused to allow it. Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam general secretary Ramakrishnan addressed the reporters as the Vel Yathrai was taking place in defiance of the ban.

He accused that “the Modi government in power at the Center has enacted laws against farmers and workers and has taken away state's rights in education. They are engaged in anti-people activities like introducing Hindi in Tamil Nadu. BJP was conducting the Vel yathrai in a bid to divert people from the problem of rising prices and unemployment due to that failing economy. They are trying to make Vel Yathrai into a riot.

He said they are engaged in Vel Yathrai though the court banned it twice, saying it was a political demonstration and not a spiritual one. He accused that they are indulging more than a thousand people campaigning during COVID-19 pandemic. Even in those campaigns, they were talking in a manner to incite riots.
