Coimbatore: Vadakkipalayam police in Polachi Taluk on Monday arrested as many as 6 persons for allegedly indulging in gambling at Devambadi Valasu village in Pollachi.
Police said a team led by Vadakkipalayam Sub-Inspector Rajendra Prasad raided the house in Devambadi Valasu village, based on a tip-off and nabbed 6 men on charges of gambling. The police caught them red-handed when theywere engaged in playing card games and placing bets.
The arrested have been identified as Palanisamy (41), Balasubramaniam (46), Venkatesh (40), Saravanakumar (25), Karthik (24) and Ashok (30) from the same area. Also, the police fined them for Rs 10,000 for gambling. All six were later released on Police bail.
