Andhra ganja dealer arrested in Palakkad with 292 kg of ganja worth Rs 3 crore

Coimbatore: Kerala police on Monday arrested two persons, including a 'most-wanted' drug dealer from Andhra Pradesh, near Palakkad. 292 kg of ganja worth Rs 3 crore were seized from the duo.

Based on a tip-off that ganja is being smuggled from Andhra Pradesh to Kerala via Tamil Nadu, the Palakkad police geared up patrols and vehicle checking at all check points. On Monday morning, the Police tried to stop a passing mini truck during a vehicle check but as the driver did not stop the vehicle, the police gave it a chase and stopped the vehicle near Manjakulam Church.

Upon inspecting the vehicle, it was found that packets of ganja were stacked in bundles under water cans. The suspects were identified as Boressi Venkateswaralu Reddy, 35, of Pathuvaripalem village in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, and Vinod Kumar, 27, a driver from Panamarathupatty, Salem, Tamil Nadu.



Police arrested the duo and seized 292 kg of ganja and the mini lorry from them. The value of the confiscated ganja is reported to be around Rs 3 crore.



It is to be noted that Venkateshwaralu from Andhra Pradesh has several been booked several times for smuggling ganja.
