Coimbatore: Andhra Pradesh Police team led by Kadappa SP Anbu Rajan arrested an alleged red sanders smuggling kingpin, in Coimbatore, on Friday.
Based on a tip-off, the Andhra Police team arrived here and arrested Hakkim alias Basha (55), hailing from Kuniyamuthur here, in coordination with the Coimbatore police.
The alleged accused is said to be involved in over 20 red sanders smuggling cases both in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Various cases have been registered against him in Coimbatore and Tamil Nadu.
After Hakkim was arrested by Andhra police, the Tamil Nadu police have rushed to Andhra Pradesh to arrest and bring him back here for further investigation.
