Coimbatore: Dengue preventive measures have been geared up in areas under Coimbatore Corporation ahead of Northeast monsoon.
The Northeast monsoon has begun in Coimbatore with occasional showers. Thus there is a possibility of rainwater stagnation in low lying areas. This could lead tobreeding of dengue mosquitoes. Already, dengue has been found in some people in areas under the Coimbatore Corporation.
Following this, the corporation administration has started focusing on dengue prevention activities. Corporation officials said that Coronavirus prevention officers have been instructed to identify high-risk areas in Coimbatore and intensify mosquito eradication efforts.
The official added that the main areas are treated with anti-mosquito smoke twice a day. He added that the dengue larvicide Abate is being poured into the storage water tanks at all areas.
