Coimbatore: Maoist shot and killed in Kerala: Vehicular inspection geared up at Tamil Nadu-Kerala border
Coimbatore: Intensive vehicular checks are being carried out at the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border after a Maoist was shot dead in Wayanad area in Kerala.
One person was shot dead in a gun battle between Kerala Thunderbolt police and Maoists in the Wayanad area in Kerala and 5 were injured.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border near Gudalur in the Nilgiris to prevent entry into the Gudalur and Panthalur taluks on the orders of Nilgiri District Superintendent of Police Sasimohan.
In addition, vehicular inspections and surveillance have been intensified at 11 checkpoints, including Gudalur Nadukani, Pattavayal, and Sholar.
Similarly, police stations in New Hope, Devala, Nilakkottai,Devarsolai, Serampadi and Masinagudi have armed cops in place for protection. All vehicles coming from Kerala are allowed only after intensive inspection.
Also, police and forest department personnel are conducting investigations into whether anyone with bomb injuries has been admitted to hospitals along the border. Surveillance has been geared up to monitor suspicious movement of people.
