Coimbatore: Minister SP Velumani inaugurated a modernized vegetable market today at a cost of Rs 95 lakh in the Ukkadam area of Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Minister SP Velumani inaugurated a modernized vegetable market today at a cost of Rs 95 lakh in the Ukkadam area of Coimbatore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, “This vegetable market, which has been modernized by the Corporation, is well set up and should be kept clean and hygienic. At present, there is the risk of corona infections, so everyone should adhere to the social distance and be safe."
Speaking further, he said that the public has made a series of requests to set up a daily market in the Ukkadam area and 303 shops have been set up in this market in response to their request.
"People and traders will benefit from this modernized market. A similar market will also be opened in Kinathukadavu," the minister said.
He also said that TN Chief Minister is touring all the districts to study the needs of the people. He said that the Chief Minister will visit Coimbatore the day after tomorrow and participate in various programmes.
The Minister said that under the present regime, various projects have been implemented for the Coimbatore District and the construction of the large bridge on Avinashi Road will begin soon.
Roads in various parts of Coimbatore district have been widened and accidents have been reduced, he said. He added that Pollachi can be reached in 20 minutes from Coimbatore via a bridge built up on the Pollachi Road.
Speaking on the expansion of Coimbatore Airport, he said, “Through the expansion project, employment opportunities for the youth will increase. More jobs will be created when the military ordnance factory is set up."
