Coimbatore: A vehicle that was involved in a hit and run accident was identified by CCTV footage. About 203 new surveillance cameras that have been installed in the city from Trichy road to Nanjundapuram were inaugurated by the City Police Commissioner Sumit Sharan a few days ago.
Coimbatore: A vehicle that was involved in a hit and run accident was identified by CCTV footage. About 203 new surveillance cameras that have been installed in the city from Trichy road to Nanjundapuram were inaugurated by the City Police Commissioner Sumit Sharan a few days ago.
Ajay Kumar (21), son of Shivraj, from Madukkarai market area is working as a private sector employee. When he was approaching the Nanjundapuram flyover on his bike the day before yesterday, a speeding car hit him and fled stopping. He suffered a fracture in the accident. The public rushed Ajay to a nearby private hospital. Gandhipuram West Traffic Investigation Police registered a case and investigated the accident.
On inspecting the newly fitted CCTV camera footage, the Swift car which was speeding that way, hit Ajay Kumar and fled has been identified. The owner of the car was identified with the car number that was recorded on the CCTV camera and a case has been registered.
Surveillance camera installed at Nanjundapuram check post is very useful for the public. The public said the car that caused the accident was traced with the CCTV footage and they also praised the D1 Ramanathapuram Police for their speedy action.
