Coimbatore: To the delight of archaeologists, structures resembling dinosaur eggs and fossils of sea living creatures have been found near Perambalur.

Coimbatore: Structures looking like dinosaur eggs and fossils of sea living creatures have been found near Perambalur.

These were found at a 50-acre pond called Venkatankulam in Kunnam village on Perambalur-Ariyalur Road when the water body was dug up for soil. These look similar to eggs of the carnivorous dinosaur carnosaur and herbivorous sauropod and fossils of sea turtles, sea snails and mussels. Perumbalur has a history of such finds earlier too with dinosaur eggs being found in the  region.

Archaeologists say the findings have to be confirmed in a lab but if they really are dinosaur eggs, then they might date back to 12-14 crore years ago.
