Coimbatore: Gold jewellery was nabbed from a Coimbatore woman in a novel way. Police are on the lookout for the perpetrator of the theft. Jayalakshmi (68), wife of Chinnaswamy, hails from Nadar Road, Coimbatore.
She was walking towards the Gandhipuram city bus stand at around 1 pm on the 16th of this month. At that time, an unidentified person who was riding a two-wheeler asked Jayalakshmi to take off her necklace and keep it safe. He warned her that there were a lot of chain snatchers in the area.
She did so and then the man offered a ride to Jayalakshmi. He then took her to the Gandhipuram area and nabbed her jewellery and rode away in a flash.
Based on a complaint lodged by Jayalakshmi, Kattoor police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the unidentified thief.
