Three dead in Palakkad district of Kerala after allegedly consuming 'spurious' liquor

Palakkad: Three people from a tribal colony at Kanjikode near Palakkad were found dead allegedly after consuming spurious liquor. Nine others are hospitalised at Palakkad government hospital.



Palakkad: Three people from a tribal colony at Kanjikode near Palakkad were found dead allegedly after consuming spurious liquor. Nine others are hospitalised at Palakkad government hospital.



The deceased have been identified as Ayyappan (55) Raman (55) and Sivan (37) from Payattukad trabal colony in Kanjikode. Their bodies have been sent to autopsy to Palakkad GH.

While it is suspcted that sanitiser or some solution could have been added to the liquor, the police are awaiting the autopsy reports to confirm the cause of death.

Palakkad SPG Siva Vikram told the media that it's unclear if they consumed liquor or anything else. The survivors say it was whitish in colour and got some smells similar to phenyl.We are probing in all directions.
