Three arrested in Coimbatore for smuggling ganja

Coimbatore: Police raided a vehicle in the Thirumalayampalayam bridge area on a secret tip-off that ganja was being smuggled on a truck passing on the Palakkad road in Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: Police raided a vehicle in the Thirumalayampalayam bridge area on a secret tip-off that ganja was being smuggled on a truck passing on the Palakkad road in Coimbatore. The police stopped the lorry with the number KL-18B-3798 and on inspection it was found that 1500 grams of ganja was being smuggled.

Investigation revealed that the lorry belonged to Muneer, a resident of Manappuram, Kerala and those who were in the lorry were Sheriff and Anas from Kozhikode. Madukkarai police have registered a case against the three and seized 1500 grams of ganja and the lorry that was used to smuggle it.

Police have been arresting people selling ganja in various parts of Coimbatore for the past few weeks. Under the circumstances they have now found that that ganja is being smuggled to Kerala. Following this, vehicles coming from other states are subjected to intense scrutiny before allowed entry to the state.
