Coimbatore: Steps are being taken to place COVID awareness banners at more than 400 places on behalf of the Coimbatore Corporation, urging people to abide by the government's COVID prevention rules, including adherence to social distancing and wearing face masks.



Various measures are being taken on behalf of the district administration and the corporation administration to control COVID-19 in Coimbatore. In particular, the corporation is taking the initiative to raise awareness about this in public places, as the use of face masks and social distancing is important to control the spread of coronavirus disease.



Accordingly, the Coimbatore Corporation is taking steps to place awareness banners at more than 400 places in the city.

"Failure to wear a face mask carries a fine of Rs 200, a fine of Rs 500 for spitting in public places on the roads, a fine of Rs 5,000 for businesses and shops violating government regulations. The corporation is taking steps to place awareness banners at important places where the public gather," said a corporation official.



He said the banners will be placed in more than 400 places. All shops in the corporation areas, including hotels and grocery stores, are affixed with stickers carrying the slogan "Wear a Mask". Through this, awareness will be spread amid the public, he said.
