Coimbatore: Rs. 5.5 crore refunded in Coimbatore for train tickets booked to travel during the COVID lockdown


Coimbatore: A total of Rs 5.50 crore has been refunded from Coimbatore, North Coimbatore, Podanur and Mettupalayam railway stations for tickets booked earlier to travel during COVID lockdown, railway officials said.

As the train service was suspended during the COVID curfew, it was announced earlier that fares for tickets booked online would be reimbursed. Accordingly, the railway administration reimbursed the amount to the e-ticket holders' bank accounts.

For those who have booked trains after March 22 at the booking centers at the railway stations, the tickets are being refunded from June 4 at the respective stations .

According to a Coimbatore Railway Station official, the bookings have been refunded at Coimbatore, North Coimbatore, Mettupalayam and Podanur railway stations since June 4. In the four months from June 4 to September, Rs. 4 crore has been refunded at the Coimbatore Railway Station so far and Rs 1.50 crore has been refunded in North Coimbatore, Mettupalayam and Podanur.

A total of Rs. 5.50 crore has been refunded at railway stations in Coimbatore, he said.
