Coimbatore: Worship and paying obeisance to ancestors have been banned in Perur Patteeswarar temple tomorrow.


Coimbatore: Worship and paying obeisance to ancestors have been banned in Perur Patteeswarar temple tomorrow.

It is customary to pay obeisance to the dead ancestors on Amavasya. Under the circumstances, Perur temple administration has banned both the worship and the act of paying respects to ancestors at the Padithurai and Amman Thoppu areas as it is customary for a large number of people to come during Amavasya.

Due to the coronavirus lockdown, the same were banned at the Perur Noyyal Padithurai on the days of Aadi Amavasai and Mahalaya Amavasya. Now restrictions have been announced and people are returning to normalcy, but still the temple administration has placed a ban at the Padithurai and Amman Thoppu areas on the day of the Purattasi Amavasai tomorrow.



Notice boards to this effect have been put up by the temple administration.
