Coimbatore: Demonstration on rescue operations held at Coimbatore Collector's Office on World Disaster Day
Coimbatore: A demonstration on rescue operations was held at the District Collector's Office on World Disaster Day. It was conducted on behalf of the District Disaster Management Agency and the event featured a variety of machines including that which help to identify if people are buried in landslides, concrete cutters, trailers, fire extinguishers, motor rubber boats, rope ladders and hydraulic cutters used to rescue survivors of landslides.
The event was attended by more than 50 firefighters from Annur, Ganapathy, Peelamedu, Pollachi, Mettupalayam and Coimbatore South, North and Central. District Revenue Officer Ramadurai Murugan said that the work of the fire department is crucial and many lives have been saved due to their concerted efforts in times of calamity.
The demonstration was attended by a large number of people, including Revenue Divisional Officers Suresh and Dhanalingam, PA to District Collector (General) Muthuramalingam, Revenue Department officials and Collectorate staff.
