Coimbatore: World Postal Day is celebrated on October 9 every year. In view of this, a special envelope launching ceremony was held at the Head Post Office in R.S. Puram.
Coimbatore: World Postal Day is celebrated on October 9 every year. In view of this, a special envelope launching ceremony was held at the Head Post Office in R.S. Puram.
This was presided over by Ramakrishnan, Director, West Zone Postal Deparment. Later, the new postal envelope was released. He said, during the period when traffic was completely banned during the lockdown, the Indian Postal Service delivered parcels containing medicines and important mails to those in need.
Also, he pointed out that money was distributed seamlessly to the elderly during the lockdown. During the Coronavirus period, postmen distributed life-saving drugs across the country.
He said, therefore, this World Postal Day envelope is designed to honor them. Currently, the new envelope is priced at Rs 50 with a special stamp of Rs 5 on it. The envelope will be available at Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Erode, Krishnagiri, Namakkal, Ooty, Pollachi, Salem, Suramangalam, Mettupalayam and Tirupati.
The event was attended by many including Assistant Directors Gopalan and Kalaiselvi and Assistant Postal Superintendent Jayaraj Babu.
