COVID-19: TN logs 5,185 new cases and 5,357 recoveries

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu recorded 5,185 new Covid-19 cases and 68 deaths on Friday, taking the case tally to 6,46,128 and cumulative toll to 10,120.


Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu recorded 5,185 new Covid-19 cases and 68 deaths on Friday, taking the case tally to 6,46,128 and cumulative toll to 10,120.

After 5,357 Covid-patients were discharged today, 44,197 people are still under treatment for the viral infection.

A record total of 97,087 samples were tested over the last 24 hours.

While all districts recorded new cases, six of them had more than 200 cases each. With 1,288 cases, Chennai continued to top the table followed by Coimbatore which recorded 397 fresh positives.

Chengalpattu ranked third with 343 cases followed by Salem (295), Thanjavur (240) and Thiruvallur (226).

While Tirupur logged 159 cases, The Nilgiris posted 109.
