Coimbatore: While 10 people were arrested in connection with the recent murder of a soda shop owner in Coimbatore Ram Nagar, City Police Commissioner Sumit Charan has ordered that Goondas Act be slapped on four of them.

Biju (40) from Avarampalayam Dhanalakshmi Nagar ran a soda shop in Ramnagar. Nitish Kumar, son of Arumugam, from Narasimhanaickenpalayam, was stabbed by a few persons from Ram Nagar. Following this, Nitish Kumar's friends blamed this attack on Biju and hacked him to death.

Kattoor police registered a case and arrested 10 persons including Arun Prasad, Vivek Prabhu, Ilayaraja, Aravind, Praveen, Karthik, Arumugam, Gopal, Sakthi Pandi and Prakash.

The prime accused, Arumugam, surrendered in court a few days ago. Subsequently, Arumugam was taken into custody for four days and police conducted an investigation.



On the recommendation of Kattoor Police Inspector Latha, City Commissioner of Police Sumit Charan ordered that Goondas Act be slapped on Raja, Arun Prasad, Aravind and Vivek Prabhu.

The order for this was issued by the police today to the four persons lodged in the Coimbatore Central Jail.
