An official with the state archaeological department, while speaking to a TV channel, told Puthiya that the discovery of so many artefacts vouch that people with advanced knowledge on clothing, work and entertainment existed on the banks of river Vaigai.

Madurai Kamaraj University will conduct DNA sequencing on the newly-discovered skeletons. While the university is collaborating with the state Archaeology Department, it is also in the process of roping in an American university to help with DNA sampling.

While the first three phases of excavations were conducted the Archaeological Survey of India, the Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology has conducted the fourth, fifth and sixth. The excavations took place simultaneously in Konthagai, Agaram and Manalur villages located near Keezhadi.
