Silent procession in tribute to deceased Hindu Munnani president Ramagopalan in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: More than a thousand people took part in a silent procession in tribute to deceased Hindu Munnani president Ramagopalan that was held in Coimbatore with heavy police protection.
Hindu Munnani founder Ramagopalan succumbed to COVID-related illness at a private hospital in Chennai yesterday. A silent procession was held in Coimbatore to pay tributes to him.
Conducted by Hindu Munnani, the procession witnessed participation of representatives from various parties including BJP, MDMK and Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi.
The procession started from Sivananda Colony and ended at the VKK Menon Road junction in Gandhipuram.
A portrait of Ramagopalan was placed on a vehicle, which was decorated with flowers. A floral tribute was also paid to a portrait of Ramagopalan placed on VKK Menon Road.
Tamil Nadu BJP Vice Presidents Vanathi Srinivasan and Kanakasabapathy, Mookambikai Mani, DMDK Cotton Senthil, MDMK Mohan Kumar, Nagasathi Beedam Babu G, Hindu Munnani District Chairman Dasarathan, Pillaiyar Beedam Manikandan Swamigal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad Lakshmi Narayanan and many others were present.
Following this, prayer songs were sung and tributes paid. Heavy police protection was provided during the event.
