Coimbatore: City Police Commissioner has praised cops from Podanur Police Station who nabbed a chain snatcher in Coimbatore within two hours after he commited the crime.
Sharmila (20) hails from Kurichi near Sundarapuram in Coimbatore. At around 5.30 pm this evening, an unidentified person in a two-wheeler snatched a chain from Sharmila and fled while she was waiting at a bus stop at the Kurichi area. A shell-shocked Sharmila lodged a complaint at Podanur police station.
Following this, the police registered a case and launched an investigation. Investigations revealed that the perpetrator of the crime was Adhiyaman (a) Nasser (25) from Kurichi who has several cases pending against him. The Police informed Adhiyaman that was arrested near Kurichi Electric Crematorium and Sharmila's gold chain was recovered from him.
City Police Commissioner Sumit Charan lauded the police team that solved the crime within within two hours. Under the circumstances, it is said that the chain snatcher was caught and handed over to the police by members of the public.
