PM-Kisan scam: 23.5 lakh confiscated from 599 people in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: A sum of 23.5 lakh has been confiscated from 599 people in Coimbatore who falsified their details and received the funds slotted for farmer under scammed the under the PM-Kisan scheme.


Coimbatore: A sum of 23.5 lakh has been confiscated from 599 people in Coimbatore who falsified their details and received the funds slotted for farmer under scammed the under the PM-Kisan scheme.

There were complaints of malpractices in the PM-Kisan scheme throughout Tamil Nadu. Following this, the details of the beneficiaries under this scheme throughout Tamil Nadu were collected and the documents were checked. Of these, 599 in the Coimbatore district were found to have been part of the scam. Following this, the money was confiscated from them by agricultural officers.

A district administration official said, “In Coimbatore district, 599 people illegally received funds under the PM-Kisan Scheme, out of which Rs 23 lakh has been confiscated from 589 people. Action will be taken to confiscate the amount from the remaining scammers by the end of next month."
