Coimbatore: Minister of Animal Husbandry Udumalai Radhakrishnan in Pollachi said action will be taken in consultation with the Chief Minister to open cattle markets in Tamil Nadu soon.

A programme was held today in Makkinampatti panchayat near Pollachi in Coimbatore district to provide free housing and agricultural equipment to the public.



Tamil Nadu Minister of Animal Husbandry, Udumalai Radhakrishnan presented welfare packages to the beneficiaries including 65 persons from Makkinampatti, Kolarpatti, Thenkumarapalayam and Chinnampalayam villages who were given free housing pattas. Minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan told reporters that the Department of Animal Husbandry has provided 25 hens each for 2,40,000 females, dairy cows for 15,000 females and 6 lakh goats for 1,50,000 females.



He also said that steps would be taken to open cattle markets in consultation with the Chief Minister regarding the reopening of the markets. He also said steps will be taken to provide all welfare schemes in full on behalf of the Animal Husbandry Department to the beneficiaries who were previously missed out. He also said that 13,750 people have applied for veterinary courses in Tamil Nadu till yesterday.

He also said that 2,000 people have applied for the courses B.Tech food technology and dairy technology.
