Two persons involved in chain snatching in Coimbatore caught and handed over to police by the public

Coimbatore: Two persons who tried to snatch a chain from a woman at Perinaickenpalayam were caught by the people, tried to an eletric pole and beaten, and handed over to the police.


Coimbatore: Two persons who tried to snatch a chain from a woman at Perinaickenpalayam were caught by the people, tried to an eletric pole and beaten, and handed over to the police.

Rathina from Perianaickenpalayam was en route to a grocery shop near Vilayattu Mariamman Temple in the area.

At the time, two persons riding a two-wheeler came near her, snatched her gold chain, and tried to flee. A shocked Rathina pushed the vehicle down and shouted for help. The public nearby caught the snatchers and tied them to an electric pole and beat them.

Later, the Periyanaickenpalayam police arrived at the scene and took the two to the police station. Investigation revealed that the two are Abdul Rahoof and Rathul from Podanur.

The incident caused quite a stir in the area for some time.
