Coimbatore: Rivers in Valparai flood due to heavy rains. The normal life of the people in Valparai has been affected due to incessant heavy rains for the last 4 days. Areas such as Chinnakallar, Keelnirar, and Akkamalai near Valparai recorded 48 mm of rain.



As a result, the Sholayar Dam has reached its full capacity of 165 feet and excess water is being released through 3 sluices of the dam. A red alert for flood has been issued to people residing in riverbank areas and in Chalakudy.



All people living in the banks near Sholayar have been asked to move to Sholayar Government Higher Secondary school by the Municipality and Public Works Department.
