Covid-19: Tamil Nadu records 5,735 recoveries and 5,697 new cases

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu’s tally of COVID-19 cases soared to 5,14,208 with 5,697 more persons testing positive on Tuesday.



Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu’s tally of COVID-19 cases soared to 5,14,208 with 5,697 more persons testing positive on Tuesday.

Of the new cases, Chennai accounted for 989, while Coimbatore ranked second on the charts with a whopping 485 cases.

A total of 5,735 persons were discharged today. So far, the State has posted 4,58,900 recoveries.

The State toll rose to 8,434 as another 68 persons (40 at government hospitals and 28 at private hospitals) succumbed to the dreaded virus.

While Tirupur logged a new record single-day jump of 262 cases, The Nilgiris posted 85.

Other than Coimbatore, the districts of Chengalpattu (324), Salem (291), Thiruvallur (283) and Cuddalore (286) also recorded high numbers.

With 78,711 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the State has done a colossal 58,58,300 tests, so far.
